Pharmacy Students Launch the Campaign "Live Longer, Eat Healthy"

The Association of Students of Pharmacy in Varna (ASPV) launch a national campaign "Live Longer, Eat Healthy" on 17th and 18th April for the second consecutive year. Its main objective is to promote health and raise public awareness of healthy lifestyle. The event is organized in cooperation with the Bulgarian Pharmaceutical Students' Association (BPhSA) and with the support of the Student Council at Medical University - Varna, the Association of Medical Students in Varna and Dental Medicine Student Association - Varna.

Special information points will be located in front of Medical University - Varna, the Faculty of Dental Medicine and Sevastopol Square on 17 April from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, where, besides apples, the symbol of the campaign, the students are going to hand out information leaflets, clarifying the principles of balanced diet and healthy lifestyle.

Ch. Adm. Assist. Prof. Milka Nashar, MD from the Department of Biochemistry, Molecular Medicine and Nutrigenomics is going to deliver a lecture, entitled "Food as our medicine" on the same day, at 6:30 pm, at the Second Auditorium of MU-Varna. The lecture highlights the main aspects of the concept of functional foods and nutraceuticals and their role in the prevention and control of socially significant diseases.

The campaign goes on with an organized running, together with the group i.Run, starting on 18 April at 9:30 am. The starting and respectively the final point of the event is the entrance of the Sea Garden (next to the sundial). Everyone who would like to join the running will receive a free i.Run chip, which records the time needed for each participant to run the whole route.

With the campaign "Live Longer, Eat Healthy", the organizers want to remind us the message left by the father of medicine Hippocrates – "Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food."
