The Summer Internship at MU-Varna of Students from the North-Western State Medical University named after I.I.Mechnikov in St.Petersburg Is Over

For the third consecutive year students from the North-Western State Medical University named after I.I.Mechnikov in St.Petersburg have conducted their summer internship at the training and clinical facilities of Medical University – Varna, under a bilateral agreement for academic cooperation.

Within the period of 17-31 July 2016 six medical students and six students of Public Health, accompanied by Prof. Dr. Natalia Petrova - Head of the Centre for Preparation of Bachelor's, Master's and Specialist's Educational Programmes at St. Petersburg University, were trained, under the supervision of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Branimir Kanazirev, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yoto Yotov, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vasil Bozhkov, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Natalia Usheva and Assoc. Prof. Marinela Grudeva. A new element in Academic Year 2015/2016 Work Programme was the exchange of doctoral and post-graduate students.

The certificate award ceremony for the Russian students was held on Friday, 29th July 2016. After an informal discussion on the entire internship, Prof. Dr. Zlatislav Stoyanov - Vice Dean of the Faculty of Medicine congratulated the participants on the zeal and commitment they have shown and awarded the documents for a successfully completed internship.

Satisfied with their work over the past two weeks, the Russian medical students said they would remember their internship with the modern technological equipment of the clinical facilities and the high professionalism of the doctors and nurses at St. Marina University Hospital. On the other hand, the interns of Public Health were impressed by the diversity of the programme organized for them, which included both activities at the training facilities of Medical University - Varna and visits to the Municipality of Varna, Bulgarian Red Cross, Day Centre Riviera, Regional Food Safety Directorate as well as meetings and discussions with representatives of non-governmental organizations, alumni of the Faculty of Public Health and others.

On behalf of the entire group Prof. Natalia Petrova thanked the Management of MU-Varna for turning the student exchange programme between the two universities into a tradition, to the students from MU-Varna - for their assistance and the organization of the cultural and entertainment programme apart from the clinical internship, to the Department of International Cooperation for the entire coordination and flawless organization of the summer internship.

Today is the first day of the internship of a group of undergraduate and postgraduate students from MU-Varna, who left for St. Petersburg to conduct their summer internship on a reciprocal basis at the partner University of MU-Varna.
