Otorhinolaryngologists, physiologists, dental practitioners, ophthalmologists, pulmonologists, cardiologists, health management specialists and students took part at the Second National Symposium on Obstructive Sleep Apnea and Snoring, with international participation, held from 25 to 27 August 2016 in Varna. The Symposium was organized by Bulgarian Society of Obstructive Sleep Apnea and Snoring, Medical University "Prof. Dr. Paraskev Stoyanov" - Varna, St. Marina University Hospital - Varna. Sleep apnea related diseases were the focus of the scientific discussions, which involved distinguished scientists in the field of obstructive sleep apnea from Europe, the USA and the Middle East, including Prof. Pirsig from the University of Ulm, Germany - a leading world-renowned scientist and surgeon in the field.
The Symposium began with three demonstrative surgical procedures in the operating room of St. Marina University Hospital, which were observed live by all participants. Thus attendees had the opportunity to get closely acquainted with new and traditional surgical techniques, applied in practice in the Clinic of ORL Diseases. Furthermore, interesting reports and presentations, divided into five mini symposiums within the Symposium, were presented and discussed.
