The Rector of MU-Varna Prof. Dr. Krasimir Ivanov Was Honoured by the German Society of Surgery in Munich

During the opening ceremony of the 136th Congress of the German Society of Surgery, the Rector of Medical University - Varna, Prof. Dr. Krasimir Ivanov, D.Sc., was named an Honorary Member of the Society. Prof. Ivanov was honoured for his high achievements in Colorectal and Minimally Invasive Surgery on a national and international scale, and owing to his active scientific work and outstanding achievements in the building up and development of the Medical School at the Varna Medical University, and the education of hundreds of German students.



More than 1600 international students from 48 countries around the world are educated at Medical University - Varna. Over the past seven years, the number of newly enrolled international students has grown more than three and a half times. The German students at MU-Varna are the most numerous international community, representing more than half of all foreign students. The British citizens are the second largest group. Each year the interest of international students to the Varna Medical University has been growing, and throughout the last student admission campaign three candidates competed for one place at the higher education institution.

 

The German Society of Surgery was founded in 1872 and is one of the oldest societies of medical professionals in the world. The objectives of the Society are to promote the "scientific and practical interests of Surgery". Today the Society brings together ten specialties in the field of Surgery. The 136th Congress of the German Society of Surgery is being held from 26th to 29th March in Munich.
