XXIV World Congress of Echocardiography and Cardiovascular Imaging Was Held near Varna

The XXIV World Congress of Echocardiography and Cardiovascular Imaging, where medical doctors and lecturers from University Hospital "St. Marina" and MU - Varna participated with oral statements and poster presentations, was held from 17th to 20th May 2018 in Albena Resort. The Congress has been organized annually by the International Society of Cardiovascular Ultrasound (ISCU), under the guidance of Prof. N. Nanda (USA). Leading researchers and clinicians from around the world shared their experience and achievements in the field of cardiovascular imaging.

Prof. Dr. Yoto Yotov and Dr. Antoniya Kisheva took part in the diverse scientific programme. The recommendations for assessment of cardiac anatomy and function in norms and pathology - valvular lesions, heart failure, cardiomyopathies, congenital malformations, coronary artery disease (CAD) and the role of echocardiography in interventional procedures for treatment of valvular and vascular diseases were presented within the framework of the Congress. Particular attention was given to interactive sessions with clinical cases that enabled the specialists to participate in discussion with experts in the relevant fields.

During the Congress significant progress was made in the development of cardiovascular imaging, which is possible with the introduction of new modalities - CT, MRI. Practical training for 3D Echocardiography and Deformation Techniques was also held during the forum.
